Films So Good

Short films often aim to send messages to society, but as the title suggests, “Goblin?” (2014) may not be in this category. “Goblin?” is a seven-minute horror film directed by Christian James and written by Matt Bothers, featuring Holliday Grainger and David Oakes in lead roles.

Plot

A woman (Grainger) returns home and discovers a chaotic mess within her house. Amidst a profound silence, she searches for her boyfriend, Harry (Oakes). She goes upstairs and finds him in a shocked state, staring at the wardrobe, which he has blocked with a mop. “What happened?” she asked. The answer she received was that there was a goblin in the wardrobe. Questioning the sanity of her boyfriend, she contemplates opening the door. Could there be a goblin inside?

Here, maybe is the message I was looking for: Should you trust your partner, no matter how crazy their sayings might seem? ‘Goblin?’ explores that question, and I think it’s a great choice to watch during Halloween.
