My favourite scene from “The Pursuit of Love”

“The Pursuit of Love” might not have received the best criticisms, but thanks to its cast including actors like Andrew Scott (“Sherlock”), Emily Beecham (“Little Joe”), and Lily James (“Darkest Hour”), the series offered some very good moments. We are reviewing one below that fully showcases Andrew Scott’s talent.

The Plot

As Linda (Lily James) and Fanny (Emily Beecham) grow up together, the marriage of Aunty Emily to Captain David “Davey” Warbeck leaves Fanny with no friends or family to rely on except Linda. The bond flourished until Linda met Lord Merlin (Andrew Scott), a bright young man who inspired Linda to break free from her father’s constraints and pursue her eternal desire for love and companionship. From then on, Fanny became a witness to Linda’s unconventional life and romantic affairs.

The Scene

In the final episode, Linda encounters Lord Merlin in France. He’s wearing sunglasses, prompting her to inquire, “Are you in disguise?” Lord Merlin’s response was disarmingly humorous, making me laugh; “Oh, the spectacles? I’ve got to wear them when I go abroad. I’ve got such kind eyes, you see, beggars and things cluster round, annoy me”.
