“The Crucible” play will be ON in a few weeks

The National Theatre’s acclaimed new production of “The Crucible” is transferring to the West End’s Gielgud Theatre this June for a strictly limited season.

Cast includes Milly Alcock (House of Dragon), who will portray the character of Abigail Williams, Caitlin FitzGerald (The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot, Master of Sex) as Elizabeth Proctor, and Brian Gleeson (Peaky Blinders, Logan Lucky) as John Proctor.

Under the direction of Olivier Award-winner Lyndsey Turner and featuring designs by Es Devlin, this electrifying new production is a remarkable restaging of Arthur Miller’s masterpiece, described as a gripping parable of power and its abuse, according to The Telegraph.

Plot

The Crucible” is a 1953 play by American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692–93. Miller wrote the play as an allegory for McCarthyism, when the United States government persecuted people accused of being communists

The play is scheduled to run from June 7 to September 2, 2023 and tickets are available for booking.
