5+1 Christmas Movies – The new 2024 list

Christmas spirit is in the air, and if you’re staying cozy at home while the snow falls outside, there’s no better way to embrace the holiday cheer than by watching a Christmas movie. There are literally thousands of choices. Last year, we put together an out-of-the-box list, and we’ve decided to make it a tradition by offering another set of holiday picks for you to enjoy.

1. This Is Christmas (2022)

This Is Christmas is a heartwarming holiday film about strangers on a London train who come together to celebrate Christmas. Led by Alfred Enoch and Kaya Scodelario, with standout performances from Timothy Spall, Ben Mille and Joanna Scanlan, the movie is filled with festive cheer, laughter, and the kind of unexpected connections that make the season magical. It’s a touching reminder that a little holiday spirit can bring people closer in the most surprising ways..

2. A Brush with Christmas (2022)

A Brush with Christmas is a 2022 holiday TV movie starring Jillian Murray as Charlotte, a local chef and aspiring artist, and Joseph Cannata as Wyatt. Set in the coastal town of Bayside during the week leading up to Christmas, Charlotte struggles to find her artistic style while helping her mom run the family restaurant. Feeling discouraged, she discards her latest painting, only to have it anonymously submitted to the town’s Christmas art festival. A classic heartwarming story that blends themes of self-discovery, community, and unexpected romance, all set against a festive holiday backdrop.

3. Office Christmas Party (2016)

Office Christmas Party is a wild holiday comedy where a desperate work team tries to save their jobs by throwing an outrageous party. Fueled by a do-or-die deadline, the crew’s attempts to impress a big client spiral into all-night chaos—dance-offs, broken rules, and one legendary snow machine included. With Jason Bateman and Olivia Munn adding a hint of strategic thinking to balance the madness, what starts as a desperate bid for success turns into a wild celebration of unexpected friendships and free-spirited fun.

4. Christmas Jars (2019)

Christmas Jars is a heartwarming holiday TV movie based on the novel by Jason F. Wright. It follows Hope Jensen (Jeny Ross), an ambitious young journalist who discovers the mysterious tradition of “Christmas Jars” after an anonymous jar of money is left for her during a difficult time. As Hope investigates, she uncovers a network of secret givers quietly spreading kindness to those in need. The film beautifully captures the spirit of generosity and the magic of selfless giving, serving as a touching reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

5. Anna and the apocalypse (2017)

Let’s add a little scare to our Christmas! Anna and the Apocalypse, starring Ella Hunt as Anna, is a quirky blend of Shaun of the Dead and La La Land. It follows a group of high-schoolers singing and dancing their way through a zombie outbreak during the holidays. Packed with catchy songs, plenty of undead chaos, and surprising heart, this British film combines festive cheer with survival horror in a way that’s both unexpected and thoroughly entertaining.

(+1). The Merry Gentlemen (2024)

As previously mentioned, you can’t fully embrace the Christmas spirit without a Chad Michael Murray movie, and Netflix seems to agree. This year, they released The Merry Gentlemen, where Murray teams up with Under the Dome star Britt Robertson. Together, they tackle the quirky task of saving her family’s café, with a surprising twist involving a striptease show. I was especially excited to see Tremors legend Michael Gross make an appearance.

With heartfelt performances, unexpected twists, and plenty of holiday cheer, these films are sure to make your Christmas brighter. Wishing you all a joyful and magical holiday season—Merry Christmas!
