Shetland Series 9: Filming Begins with New Faces Joining the Cast

The future of the TV series “Shetland” was uncertain following the departure of Douglas Henshall, who is also known as D.I. Jimmy Perez. However, the duo of Alison O’Donnell and Ashley Jensen led to the renewal of the series not just for one year, but for two.

Additionally, the BBC announced new guest cast members for the series. The most notable appearances in the ninth series include William Hart (from “The Last Kingdom”) and Vincent Regan (from “Poldark” and “300”), who will join “Shetland,” starring alongside series favorites such as Steven Robertson (DC Sandy Wilson), Lewis Howden, Anne Kidd, Angus Miller, Steven Miller, Tibu Fortes, Conor McCarry and Eubha Akilade.

Ian Hart says: I’m looking forward to embarking on a Shetland adventure – it’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit and to do so with this incredible drama is wonderful.”

Vincent Regan says: “I’m thrilled be joining the cast of Shetland which is such a beloved BBC drama. My character and his family are at the heart of this dark and twisting storyline and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds. The opportunity to visit the Shetland Isles was also a real pull to the part as well as working with the likes of Ashley Jensen and Alison O’Donnell

The new six-part series sees DI Calder (Jensen) who, after relocating to the Isles, faces a challenging situation when a friend of Tosh (O’Donnell) vanishes. This eerie story of disappearances and death sparks a labyrinthine investigation for Tosh and Calder, testing the boundaries between their personal lives and their professional duties.

Filming of the ninth season began with ITV Studios releasing a photo featuring Tosh McIntosh (Alison O’Donnell), Euan Rossi (Ian Hart), and DI Ruth Calder (Ashley Jensen).
