Films So Good

The teaser for Yorgos Lanthimos’s new movie, titled “Kinds of Kindness,” has been released and is expected to premiere in cinemas on June 21. This film marks the fourth collaboration between Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos, following “The Favourite,” “Poor Things,” and the short film “Bleat.”

The cast also includes Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley (both of whom appeared in “Poor Things”), Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. Yorgos Lanthimos co-wrote the screenplay for “Kinds of Kindness” with Efthymis Filippou, with whom he has previously collaborated on films like “The Lobster,” “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” and “Dogtooth.”

According to the official synopsis, the film is “a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”

Given its release period, the film is expected to debut at the Cannes Film Festival.
