Back in Action: Cormoran & Robin in The Ink Black Heart

Great news for fans of the beloved TV series: BBC One has announced that a new season of ‘Strike’ is in the making – ‘The Ink Black Heart’ – with Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger returning in their roles as Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.

The Ink Black Heart,’ adapted from Robert Galbraith’s (a pseudonym for J.K. Rowling) 2022 novel, will be the sixth installment in the series, succeeding titles such as ‘Lethal White’ and ‘Troubled Blood.’ Production has just begun, paving the way for its anticipated premiere in late 2024, marking a two-year hiatus since the last season. Like the previous seasons, the upcoming one will also consist of four episodes.

Plot

The previous season ended with Robin and Cormoran sharing a romantic dinner to celebrate her birthday. Now, a new case unfolds when distressed Edie Ledwell arrives at the office, urgently requesting to speak with Robin, who is initially uncertain about the situation. Edie, co-creator of the popular cartoon “The Ink Black Heart,” finds herself harassed by an mysterious online figure known as Anomie. Desperate, she seeks Robin’s help to reveal Anomie’s real identity.

Robin determines that the agency is unable to assist with this matter and dismisses it from her mind until, a few days later, she is stunned by the news that Edie has been attacked with a taser and subsequently murdered in Highgate Cemetery, the location of The Ink Black Heart.

Robin and Strike are pulled into the quest to discover the real identity of Anomie. However, navigating through a tangled network of online aliases, business dealings, and family disputes, Strike and Robin are caught up in a case that pushes them to their utmost limits.

Cast

Apart from Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger, returning cast members include Ruth Sheen (“Another Year”), Jack Greenlees (“Shetland”), Natasha O’Keeffe (“Peaky Blinders”), and Caitlin Innes Edwards (“Hanna”). New cast members include David Westhead (“Bodyguard”), Christian McKay (“Florence Foster Jenkins”), Emma Fielding (“Les Misérables”), Tupele Dorgu (“The Full Monty”), and James Nelson-Joyce (“The Gold”), among others.
