Ian McKellen’s Story About Being Confused for Michael Gambon
On the latest episode of “The Graham Norton Show,” Sir Ian McKellen shared an amusing anecdote about being mistaken for Michael Gambon, even after Gambon’s death.
Both actors are renowned for their portrayals of iconic, white-haired wizards in major film franchises—McKellen as Gandalf in “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit,” and Gambon as Dumbledore in “Harry Potter.”
Initially, McKellen revealed that Michael Gambon had once told him about signing Gandalf posters for fans who mistook him for Ian McKellen.
Then, McKellen recounted a recent incident where two women approached him at a train station, asking if he was Michael Gambon. When McKellen informed them that Gambon had passed away, they bizarrely inquired if he was still Gambon, leading him to believe they thought they had seen a ghost.
In the same context Michael Sheen told the they used to confuse him with Andy Serkis.
