Emma Stone’s Emotional Moment with Fan with Autism at ‘Poor Things’

The incident occurred a few days ago, but it’s a story worth sharing. Emma Stone was moved to tears during a Q&A session for the film “Poor Things” in London. A fan with autism shared his experiences of loneliness during his school years with the actress. He explained how Stone’s “Saturday Night Live” sketches helped him get through school.

The fan firstly shared his passion for ‘Poor Things’; ‘I have been watching your career for the last 12 years. I love Poor Things. I have watched it six times.’ He continued, ‘Growing up as one of the very few autistic kids in school, I felt lonely and unable to make friends. During recess, I would sneak inside a computer room to watch your old SNL sketches.'”

The audience burst into applause when the fan mentioned, “You’ve talked about feeling insecure because you didn’t graduate from high school or attend college. However, the comfort and safety your work brought me during those years were invaluable.”

Emma get off the stage and hug the fan, who gave her a bouquet. When she returned to the stage, Stone wiped tears from her face and asked if he had a question for her, which he did: “What is your favorite message that you are going to take on for the rest of your life from this experience?”

Emma replied that she thinks Bella also experiences life beyond social norms, embracing life’s experiences in a unique way. She mentioned that Bella sees both the good and bad, is fascinated by what life offers, and her uniqueness is deeply inspiring. Emma added that this aspect has profoundly touched her.
