Waiting for “In the Land of Saints and Sinners”

I couldn’t help but write about this film the moment I saw the dream-team cast from Ireland. How else can you describe a cast that includes Liam Neeson (“Taken”), Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin”), Ciaran Hinds (“Belfast”), Colm Meaney (“Tolkien”), Jack Gleeson (“Game of Thrones”), Sarah Greene (“Dublin Murders”), Seamus O’Hara (“An Irish Goodbye”), and others? The movie is directed by Robert Lorenz, best known for “The Marksman”, his previous collaboration with Liam Neeson, and the production of “Mystic River.”

Plot

In 1970s Ireland, Finbar Murphy (Neeson) is trying to ditch his shady past and live a quiet life in the laid-back coastal town of Glencolmcille, away from all the political chaos in the country. But then, a sketchy gang of terrorists led by the ruthless Doirean (Condon) shows up, messing up Finbar’s peace. Things get real when Finbar figures out that one of them is messing with a local girl. Now, he’s stuck in a risky game of cat and mouse. Finbar has to pick between spilling his secrets or sticking up for his crew and neighbors.

Release Date

The exact release date hasn’t been officially revealed yet, and it differs from country to country. However, the wait for the release won’t be too lengthy. The movie had its debut at the Venice Film Festival in September. Netflix has secured the rights for the UK and Ireland.
