Films So Good

Before the massive production of TV series, it was hard to find an actor that had done more than two successful TV series. Now that the projects are so many, it’s easier to find actors that have played in numerous good series, but playing in two good series in a single year is still worth mentioning.

This is the case of Holliday Grainger. In 2022 she led in the return of two exceptional TV series; “The Capture” and “Strike”.

The second season of “The Capture” was a breakthrough. As in the first season, the story explores issues from government surveillance to fake news. This year, the plot focused on DCI Rachel Carey’s revenge, so Holliday became the center of Season 2. Paapa Essiedu, Indira Varma and Charlie Murphy were added to the cast, the scenario included many twist plots and the tech effects totally blew my mind.

Additionally, Holliday also led in the new season of “Strike”. In the new season, we watched the first cold case of Inspector Cormoran Strike with Robin swearing to punish the killer of an innocent woman even after fifty years. Honestly, the cases of “Strike” could be more complex, but the series always had something unique. Maybe it’s London’s atmosphere or the chemistry between Holliday and Tom Burke. The elements remain the same and the additions of the cast, the Cornwall part and the updated role of Robin in the office give some new dimensions to the series.

What’s next

After a so successful year, the British actress will play a superhero in the sci-fi blockbuster “Mickey 7” starring opposite Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette. The movie is based on the book by Edward Ashton and Bong Joon-ho, whose black comedy thriller “Parasite” won the Best Picture Oscar in 2020, will direct and write the screenplay of the movie.
