The Jury of Cannes unveiled

Five women and three men will be in the jury along with the previously announced president Spike Lee. This the second time that women has the majority in Jury, The first time was in 2018, when Cate Blanchett was jury president, the split was also five women and four men.

More specifically, this year’s jury members for the main competition are the following:

  • Spike Lee (Jury President), American director, Gran Prix award for “BlacKkKlansman” (2018)
  • Mati Diop, French-Senegalese filmmaker, Gran Prix award for “Atlantics” (2019)
  • Mylène Farmer, Canadian-French singer/songwriter
  • Maggie Gyllenhaal, American actress “Donni Darko” (2001), “The Secretary” (2002), producer and director
  • Jessica Hausner, Austrian director/producer, “Lourdes” (2009), “Little Joe” (2019)
  • Mélanie Laurent, French actress “Inglourious Basterds” (2009), “Le retour du héros” (2018)
  • Kleber Mendonça Filho, Brazilian director/produce “Bacurau” (2019)
  • Tahar Rahim, French actor, “A Prophet” (2009), “The Mauritanian” (2019), “The Serpent” (2019)
  • Song Kang-ho, South Korean actor, “Memories of Murder” (2003), “Snowpiercer” (2013), “Parasite” (2019)

The 74th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from 6 to 17 July 2021
