“Fisherman’s Friends” are Returning for a Second Song
It was great to hear the news about the beginning of shooting of “Fisherman’s Friends” sequel, one of the most feel-good movies. Flying Fish and Entertainment Film Distributors confirmed it, by announcing that the principal photography for the sequel had started on the 15th April in Cornwall.
Only after two years from the first movie, the sequel presents the next instalment of the Fisherman’s Friends uplifting true-story. Following the unexpected success of the band’s debut album “No Hopers, Jokers and Rogues”, we re-join them almost a year later, struggling with the pressures, pitfalls and temptations of their newfound fame.
Writer/Directors Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft commented,“We’re thrilled to be back in Cornwall directing the second part of the band’s extraordinary true story. It’s a joy to be reunited with so many of our amazing original cast as well as introducing exciting new characters.”
James Purefoy (Rome, Netflix’s Altered Carbon) reprises his role of Jim, with other returning cast members including Maggie Steed (Elizabeth is Missing), Dave Johns (I, Daniel Blake), Sam Swainsbury (BBC’s Mum), Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials) and David Hayman (Finding Your Feet). Daniel Mays, Tuppence Middleton and Noel Clarke won’t return for the sequel.

On the contrary, new faces in Port Isaac include Richard Harrington (Netflix’s Hinterland) as latest band member Morgan; Ramon Tikaram (Pennyworth), Joshua Maguire (Netflix’s Lovesick) and Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May in her debut acting role.

Despite the fact that critics didn’t unreasonably favour the first movie, “Fisherman’s Friends” good vibes resulting in a decent box office, hitting over $11 mil.
